I don’t know what came over me when I was granted the opportunity to review this game. I don’t play sports, and let’s face it, gymnastics has not been and never will be an interest that I will follow. Maybe it’s because I’ve been cooped up indoors for so long, any daydream of an environmental change is welcome. (Aren’t captive audiences the best?) I have enjoyed weightlifting in the past, though these days I limit myself to walking/yoga/light cardio.
Alright, let’s play this thing. On to character creation:

My character is a badass gymnast, ok. So there are sliders. Of course, I’m sliding them all the way to the right, because my character is a badass gymnast with a badass thigh gap. Going with realism here. Oh dear, there is a thigh gap slider. These hips are for uh. Something. Walking. She lives outside of town and has no license so she must walk everywhere. We have a powerwalker.

Ok. Waist slider. All sliders, all the way to the right. Got it.

I repeat myself. All of the sliders, all of the way to right.
ALL OF THEM
There might be hope for me yet.

The coaching on this is generous and kind, as there is no way I would ever do anything like this in an actual gym setting.

This game is hilarious, enjoyable, and handles like a gently controllable Mount Your Friends.

Or not. There is a momentum involved in this flipping around bit that I did not want to learn IRL. I never had dreams of tumbling on a mat, that activity seems rather vomit-inducing.

It appears that lack of imagination has followed me into adulthood, and I believe it is here that I will call it a good game.

It is a good game, the mechanics feel legitimate. I’m just going to gently give All Sliders All the Way to the Right Badass Pro Gymnast a pass. That doesn’t mean that you have to. I recommend checking out the online community that has gathered for this game, offering a variety of group-created obstacle courses to tumble through.

However, this true-to-life floor exercise screenshot remains a parallel comparison to how horizontal I would look after a vigorous round of true gymnastics.
