On 2 November 1920 KDKA Radio in Pittsburgh broadcast the Harding-Cox presidential election results, widely regarded as the world’s first radio broadcast
Pittsburgh in the 1920s was a crowded, dirty place. The Roaring 20s would be the pinnacle for the monied class, whether old or new. For the employees of the steel and coal magnates, the romance and benefits of industrialization would have to wait until the end of the Great Depression and the mass mobilization of production for World War II
The investigators are all sitting around in a speakeasy getting ready to listen to the broadcast of the presidential election results. There have been quite a few stories in the newspapers about the event, so all classes of people are extremely interested. The wealthy for dinner party talk or financial reasons, and the common man out of curiosity and wonder.
