In this fundamental reference, Bleu Sayles’ gentle words of reassurance guide the reader through a plunderous primer: Necessary supplies, what to expect, proper preparation for the quest of seasonal and wild bounty.
The most useful information I found in this pictorial library essential is a listing of what mushroom types often mimic edible species. The reader learns how to correctly distinguish the difference between a dinner delicacy or internal organ failure. 
This toxic lookalike taunts passerby while I take my dog for a stroll.
I greatly appreciate Bleu’s eye toward sustainability and correct harvesting practices to ensure mycological cycles continue to flourish, wherever those fruiting bodies may be found.
In our economic and ecological climate of change, it is always helpful to know what flora can be successfully placed on your plate at minimal cost, without risk or harm.
This tome carries the reader through basic processes with an equal measure of excitement and caution.
One of the portions that I found appealing were the recipes, how to savor the results of a successful day of discovery, whether it be at the local park or the local Farmer’s Market: many of these species are interchangeable.
I am always eager to taste a new dish sourced from these much neglected mushies.
