Avalos rests on the edge of the Orpheus Salient between Hethgard and the Well of Night, but has thus far been spared the attentions of the Imperium’s enemies. Recently the world came to the attention of the Ordo Xenos and Inquisitor Kalistradi, who arrived with her retinue to uncover rumours and signs of a Genestealer infestation. What she discovered was far worse then she could have anticipated.
However, when Kill team Epsilon arrives, they discover that things have gone from bad to worse, and Avalos is sliding into total war. Only moments after their frigate makes orbit, the vessel is set upon by a swarm of Tyranid bio-ships called kraken. The Battle-Brothers make a narrow escape by drop pod as the Imperial ship is torn asunder, cutting off their support and any chance of reinforcement.
Crashing through the roof of an Imperial chapel the team finds themselves in the middle of a firefight with a rebel horde. The 117th Lordsholm Planetary Defence Force is making a valiant last stand but seems on the verge of breaking. It’s Kill Team Epsilon to the rescue.
