If no one hears the safe word, was it ever spoken?

Garrett Cook’s newest exhibition of atrocities opens to the rapture of submission. Cassilda soon forgets the existence of her phone and normal life, and replaces them with the excess and indulgence of substance and physical pleasure. Fellow members of this enclave enter a period of spiritual doubt before settling on the fact that they all love a central figure known as Daddy, and slide back into that submissive state.

Pup has lost Lenore, their previous mistress. Pup arrives to this compound seeking refuge.

They are welcomed, and enjoy an emotional and physical interlude with Daddy.

Cassilda witnesses a violent ritual and screams for Daddy. There is no response.

Better rev up the Mystery Machine folks, there’s been a ritual blood sacrifice at the Furry FetLife Funhouse. Supernatural shenanigans are afoot.

Pup joins Daddy’s host of brides, and assumes the role of family dog. All parties involved find this an extremely satisfactory arrangement.

Portions of this novella thrust deeper into extremes than I would prefer, reminiscent of the darker moments of Cameron Pierce. I applaud Mr. Cook for an ability to gauge how far is TOO far, and pulling out right at the moment I was going to slap that cover shut. At a specific point, a key character is granted personal agency, which shifted this reader’s attitude from one of disgust and dismay to utter delight and glee. (I may have audibly cheered.)

With a release date of 12/24/24, someone’s stocking is gonna get stuffed.

I guarantee it.
